FPL 25/26 Gameweek 3 Overview: Review and Thoughts

FPL 25/26 Gameweek 3 continues to bring surprises, with upsets, injuries, and other curveballs. Find out how it affected our gameweek.

We're just about to head into the first international break of the 25/26 Season, and this week has been just as interesting as the previous two in the world of FPL. With crazy upsets, shocking performances from written off teams, and another week of Aston Villa blanks, it feels as though chaos is the only word that you can attribute to FPL at this moment.

The next week is going to be an interesting time, as with zero games a lot of managers are going to be itching to either Wildcard or set up for the next leg of the season. And, with another rack of injuries coming through, a lot of top managers seem to be falling further to the bottom of the rankings.

In this article, we're going to go over my own gameweek, as well as this week's FPL review. With this, you can catch up on my thoughts and opinions of the games over this weekend, as well as how things are looking going into the international break.

FPL 25/26 Gameweek 3: My Team Overview and Thoughts

For me, Gameweek 3 looked a lot better than the first two gameweeks. It does feel really bad missing Marcos Senesi Barón's 14 point haul. but I got hauls from most of my big attackers, with my Erling Haaland captaincy paying off decently. The Spurs defense did let me down, though, as Bournemouth hit a goal past them, and so my defense is looking woeful.

The Crystal Palace tech that I mentioned last week, in Chris Richards and Ismaïla Sarr really paid off, with Sarr getting a return and clean sheets all around. Hopefully, Sarr recovers well and bounces back afterwards; he's an asset that I like and I really feel as though he was just about to hit a perfect stride of fixtures.

I saw no real returns from my Liverpool assets. The Liverpool and Arsenal matchup is usually far more explosive, but this one was a relatively tame 1-0. I feel as though I still like both of these picks, but I am keeping a close eye on Salah to see whether he's playing more supportively this season.

My other midfielders didn't return, with Dan Ndoye being substituted off against a West Ham team that beat expectations; with such a poor start, it felt as though Forest had an easy fixture, but they fell apart. On the other hand, Sunderland managed to surprise again and grab a victory versus Brentford, which meant that Dango Ouattara also blanked.

With all of this, though, I'm pretty happy with my team and feel as though I only need to make a minor change (as Sarr is injured). I still feel as though Spurs can keep a clean sheet against West Ham better than Nottingham Forest did, and am fairly confident in the fixtures for all of my key players.

Outside of the games affecting my own team, this week continued the trend of chaos and unpredictability in parts; West Ham came out of their slumber, and Sunderland also managed to attain victory over Brentford. Newcastle United couldn't score past Leeds United and showed that they're still really struggling in the striker department, and Brighton managed to secure victory against Man City, with Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush being the only real City players with a return.

Manchester United managed to shake off their defeat to Grimsby Town and beat Burnley 3-2, with both Bruno Borges Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo returning. However, even with this, I still don't feel confident in any United player looking at their next two fixtures against Man City and Chelsea.

Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0 in a controversial game, but I still feel as though they looked dominant. It's unfortunate that Fulham didn't get anything for it, though, and the Josh King owners out there were very close to a goal from the £4.5m midfielder, but due to the goal being disallowed he walked away with a mere two points. However, the João Pedro Junqueira de Jesus is pretty nice.

Everton beat Wolverhampton Wanderers, with both Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish returning with 12 and 10 points respectively. Both of these players seem like strong FPL assets at this point, and may be worth at least considering.

Of course, there was a lot of transfer news this week too, with huge moves happening including the inclusion of one Alexander Isak. Of course, this will massively shake up the FPL template, so keep an eye out for our discussion of the transfer window over the international break.

Early Gameweek 4 Plans: Replacing Sarr

We have a week of international fixtures before the next gameweek, and so a lot more time to think before acting. Right now, Sarr has completely withdrawn from Senegal's World Cup qualifiers with a torn hamstring; taking him out for 4-8 weeks. This makes him an emergency to sell for me, and I'll be looking to transfer him out over the break.

My immediate thought is investing in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. With an Aston Villa matchup next week that does look somewhat favourable for Everton due to Villa's recent form, I feel as though it's a good immediate strategy (and, I'd bench him against Liverpool in GW5 anyway). With this, I can also upgrade one of my other midfielders next week to a possible £7.0m like Antoine Semenyo, or facilitate a move from Hugo Ekitiké to Alexander Isak if he does become essential.

I'm also going to be keeping a close eye on Mohamed Salah, as he's definitely not looking as essential as last season, but the fixtures do get a lot better and so I don't want to go without him just yet. I am willing to downgrade him, though, if required, and right now I have the flexibility to do so if another premium midfielder starts to hit some form. But, with Cole Palmer and Bukayo Saka both injured/question marks, I don't know who else I'd want in this spot right now.

Closing Time

The international break has already gotten off to a wild start, with the transfer window changing so much for the season. It's looking to be an exciting time, so get ready as the season swings into full gear once we get back next week.
